Health

With midterms having just come to a close, it seems sickness is at its highest. Its the flu season, and that means classes full of running noses,  germs shooting from noses, coughs galore, and best of all pink eye it seems. Yes, at least once this week someone has been out with pink eye it seems, dont know how or why, but its going around so watch out. I wouldnt be surprised if classes have a drastic change in attendence as well with all the sickness. And calling the health clinic is so misrable. I called cause i couldnt stop coughing, which i thought came from being stressed out over midterms which leads to getting sick real easily( i know from experience.) But now what do we all just wait to get colds, or for out colds to get even worst. Do we wait to have the clinic give us 10 forms of medication which none seem to do the trick. DO we skip class so we dont spread the germs. Being sick sux, and having it be that time of the year makes it suck even more.. Get the airbore, mucniex, and ibprofen out everyone, because the time has come.. ewwwwww

Weather on a Halloween night!

November 4, 2008 by ashdmoo1

Ualbany was out at its finest downtown on Friday Oct. 21st… Girls were bare and when i mean bare i mean literally nothing as i walked down the street to the local bar.. I was wrapped in a north face and still freezing. Not going to lie last couple of halloweens have been a bit more chilly then this one, but come on guys its Albany and October… Why are you naked? I cant imagine how many voices were lost, how many people are checking into the health center on Monday. How many classes will be quite down on attendence because of the weekends activites .. I remember halloween being about collecting candy and dressing up as power rangers, now its freezing out and everyone is out naked. They dont care if its negative 0 with a wind chill of 20. they are going out in there slutty costumes, because its what college students do and no matter the weather they will. the weather was around 43 and the air was chilly but no rain no wetness, no wind really.. it was a halloween for the books in which i mean a not so freezing halloween, but also not a halloween in Miami either. Before i put on my costume i made sure to check the weather. to check the weather i went to the link below. This is the best site to get information on weather for the week, day, month, and events.. try it out!

How much is too much?

October 20, 2008 by ashdmoo1

How Much is to much for these canadiates to spend? Well so far according to Ny times, Barak Obama has spent  145,063,338 compared to John McCain’s 90,415,962. But the best part of this is that is was not the money spent on the overall campaign so far, but just on the media and ads being made to bash eachother pretty much. In the final debate McCain actually talked about Obama spending and said how he has used public finace to a max, and lied to the american people. Now i am  Obama fan, well more a fan of what his stances are. Yet, Are we not in a recession, or heading in that direction. Shouldnt all this money be goign towards something else? How can he say we wants to limit citizne spending yet, he spends an enormus amount of money to bash his canadiate. Both of these presidential canidates are spending so much money, its not funny nor reality.  I rather save all that money and have   it go towars something else, rather then see a dumb commercial on TV bashing Obama, or McCain. In all reality this spending habit they both have is rediculous, and not needed… They dont realize it either thats sad part. They can sit an tell the public everything going to be OK. well maybe for you because you can waste a bulk of cash and not be hurt by it, yet people cant afford to live in their houses, how ironic… Just stop!

The first newspaper i went to was the New York Post, and i instantly new that their multimedia cite was the best ive seen after viewing it. I couldnt find a specific cite they use, so im guessing they make their own multimedia cite, rather then using someone elses. The pictures were big and easy to see and understand.. the videos were clear and to the point.  There were many albums, and lots of choices as well. if you click on a picture it usaully has a story to go on with it, which makes things alot easier to understand.. it was perfect.

The seconed website that i looked at was Times Union. I couldnt find what the used either, i looked at the cite forever, but didnt go to another cite thati could find what they use because i liked this one so much. What I liked  was that the multimedia part of this website. The Videos told a story and got to the point. There was a video on almost every topic you can think about. I think this multimedia gallery is more creative then NY Post, but not as organized.  But it had alot more choices, which is a plus.

The third website gallery i looked at was Washington Post which uses camera works, as well as alot of other newspaper do. this seems like themost popular cite used. What i liked about the post was that it had columns and rows seperating their pictures and videos, so it was easy to see what was what. But there were so many and it was all so little it was hard to figure evrything out. But they had a great idea with this multimedia cite. They are organized and diverse. Had alot of information for most of the topics they talked about. I think i liked this one the most, so much to choose from, and very entertaining, and the picture were to the point and told  the story just by looking at them.

Its been real hard being a Dolphin fan!!! till this wknd!

September 23, 2008 by ashdmoo1

Ive been a Miami Dolphin fan my whole life. I been through the good times and the really bad. Right now its the really bad, having gone 1-15 last season and starting off  the season 0-2 with a loss to the Jets. I have gotten made fun of so much. From not ever having a legit QB, to Ricky and is drug uses. But this wknd i finally got some credit. Some credit ive been waititng for a year and a half now, or 20 years, if we think about in superbowl terms. I never got to see them play in one, and  i feel like i have a long while till that happens, but ill take this wknd and im going to take it in Pride. Two words, Ronnie Brown he ripped New England apart on sunday. Yes the New England Patriots, the undefeated patriots, yes they were without Brady but the killed them and thats all that matters. The jets couldnt beat New England last week, but yes those fins did and they did it well. Now they have the momentum they need to win some more, then all the New York fans and keep their comments to themselves. I am so excited for the rest of this football season!!!!!

Local News.. Stocks

September 15, 2008 by ashdmoo1

Most of todays society has invested in stocks, or knows someone who has. Today September 15th the stock market had a really bad day. I have stocks, little ones like Gucci, Pepsi, Prada, and other ones my parents have invested in. When i checked them today they were down. The Dow is down. I read a New York Times article on this situation, well how its being handled in the stock exchange, and in the region of New York.  Mayor Bloomberg states in the article, In spite of those wishing to spend now and pray that God will provide in the future, we also used the good times to save for the tough times. In years when revenues exceeded expenses, we saved as much as possible for the years when we would really need it,” The article goes on to talk about how the city has planned for this kind of thing, they were ready for the Lehman Brothers to go into bankruptcy, and ready for Bank Of America to buy Merrill Lynch. Im not so sure of this, im sure they knew that the stocks might have a bad day, they been edgy ever since 9/11. But this is causing alot of debt. I dont think people realize espeisally New Yorkers, who go out and spend spend spend.. Guys its time to cut back, stocks are down and this is just the begining.. Everyone Beware… For more information on this topic go to

World News

The news world news event that i’ve been covering over the last few days has been hurricane Ike. Ike hit Haiti and killed 73, left a  lot injured, and did alot of damage. It then gained strength to about a catagory 3 and hit Cuba on sunday. Thing is Cuba such a poor country i dont know how their going to afford the aftermath of it. This subject hit home for me because i lived in South Florida at the time if hurricane Andrew and Wilma, don’t really remember the aftermath of Andrew. But Wilma there was no school for 2 weeks, no Electricity for two weeks, no gas people were staling on roads trying to get places and trying to find gas, it was nothing like i’ve seen before. Our country help to rebuild and pay for damages. I don’t see Cuba doing this so now what, are they going to have to live in the ruins of Ike . Waves of 50 feet pounded Cuba. Most people evacuated, and some were already homeless because of the past weeks hurricane.  Ike is now heading toward the Louisiana. But now what are the people in Haiti, and Cuba going to do, how are they going to rebuild. The U.S went down and tried to help Haiti out, But now we have our own hurricanes to worry about and honestly i don’t think we can afford another one either. for more information check out.

Seeing the Dark Knight, after everyone else…

August 28, 2008 by ashdmoo1

Last week , before i left for school, i decided to go see the Dark Knight. The thing is most people had already seen it. I saw the long lines that wrapped around corners the wknd it was unveiled, yet i chose to be the one to wait. I was going to wait for the DVD but decided i just wait any longer with all the talk i heard. So at 8 pm i went to the AMC in Roosevelt Feild, bought  two tickets one for me and one for my good friend who has seen it twice already. We got our large refillable Popcorn and large diet coke and went into an almost empty stadium seating theater. For what felt like 3 hours i was memorized just how good the movie was. Better then any Batman ive seen. It answered so many questions i had esp about hot the joker came about, and it left it open for the future. I literaly cant wait. Not going to lie it was a little freaky to see Heath Ledger that way, but he stole the show. I almost teared up watching him that way.. There was never a dull moment in the film, and would watch it again,5 starts is a definite. The only thing that upset me was it took 20 minutes into the credits to dedicate the film to ledger, and i waited and was in shock at first i didnt even think they were going to have a dedication, how rude. But there it was after the music credits and everything. Are u serious he the one making the blockbuster sales. But thats how it went. After the show i watched people get up as they applauded overheard people saying it was fantastic, hard to see ledger and all that fun stuff. Ledger just put on more of a dark breathtaking show, then Nicholson.  All, in all, im glad i didnt wait for the DVD. The movie is definetly something everyone should see in theaters its truly amazing.
